Continuing Education Information

   West Virginia licensed Social Workers may earn up to 21.25 contact hours for attending workshops in each time slot, two networking sessions, three plenary sessions and the NASW Membership Meeting. You must attend to earn hours. Hours earned will vary based on CE regulations for other states and for related professions.

   NASW, WV is a recognized provider of continuing education for Social Workers in WV and OH, the WV Cert. Board for Addiction Professionals, and the WVU CE Nonprofit Management Certificate Program. CE hours earned are generally accepted for social workers licensed in MD, KY,  PA and VA. Applications are in process for Licensed Nursing Home Administrators (see new note below), WV Licensed Professional Counselors and Attorneys. Check online at www.NASWWV.org for CE approval updates.

 

Licensed Nursing Home Administrators: "This educational offering has been reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB) and approved for 28 clock hours and 16 participant hours." Ethics Hours for WV ‘Temporary License’ Social Workers

   West Virginia temporary license holders must earn 8-hours in Social Work Ethics every 2 years. Workshops applying to this requirement are: A11, B1, B13, C6, E3, F4 and F19. To increase seating capacity for others needing hours, register for a few hours this year, then attend the 2009 Spring Conference to earn additional hours.

 

Ethics Hours Approved for WV Licensed Professional Counselors

   WV Licensed Professional Counselors must earn 3-hours in Counselor related ethics every 2 years. Workshops that apply to this requirement are: B18 and F19. Note: These sessions are extended by 15-minutes to ensure the required three full hours of course time.

2008 Spring CE Conference for Social Workers

WV LPC Approved Workshops

All 1.5-hour, 3-hour and 6-hour workshops at the 2008 Spring Conference are APPROVED for West Virginia Licensed Professional Counselors, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS and CLARIFICATIONS:

Workshops B12 (Social Work Practice in the Public School) and D13 (The West Virginia Transition Initiative) DO NOT apply to LPC hours.

 

Workshops F19 & B18 apply to LPC Ethical hours. Note that these two workshops will be extended by 15-minutes to assure the required three-full hours of instruction time. 

 

NOTE: Workshops that apply solely to Social Work Ethics hours requirements will earn REGULAR LPC Hours but NOT LPC Ethical hours.

 

We are clarifying whether either the opening or closing keynote address sessions will apply to LPC hours. 

 

Once you arrive at the conference you will recieve a list of 'Networking Sessions' in your conference folder.  We will indicate whether any Networking Sessions apply to LPC hours.  Networking Sessions are one-hour session schedule from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 24th and Friday, April 25th.
